E-rate News for the Week
January 15, 2001
The following is a summary of the E-rate News, prepared by E-rate Central. Official SLD news appears in the "What’s New!" section of the SLD’s Web site . Additional and archived information appears elsewhere on this  Web site.

Confirming PY4 Application Postmark and Receipt

The filing window for PY4 Form 471 applications closed last night, January 18.  We hope all applicants successfully mailed their applications – or, if having filed online, mailed their supporting attachments and signed certifications – before the deadline.

For record keeping purposes, please document both the “postmark” date and the SLD’s receipt of your application material.  If express mail was used, the package can be tracked on the carrier’s Web site using the tracking number provided.

PY3 Funding “Ripple”

The first of several expected funding “ripples” for PY3 was released by the SLD on January 12 covering decisions on applications that had not been processed within the normal weekly waves that ended December 1.  This ripple, designated “Wave 29a,” totaled over $20.5 million -- actually larger than any of the last four regular waves – and included $7.8 million for NYS applicants.

New York LPFM Filing Deadline

At this point, the last thing anyone wants to hear about is another deadline.  However, we would be remiss if we did not mention that the window for New York schools and libraries to file FCC applications for non-commercial, educational, Low Power FM Radio stations opened January 16 and closes January 22, 2001.

Information on the FCC’s LPFM program, and opportunities for schools and libraries, can be found on our CentralEdand the FCC's Web sites, listed below.
